BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Attorney Roy L. De Barbieri, is an ADR  practitioner in the firm of De Barbieri and Associates, with offices at 677 State Street, New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 and 15 Northwood Road, Madison, Connecticut, 06443, and remains engaged in the general practice of law before all courts and administrative tribunals.  Roy is Of Counsel to the firm of Zangari, Cohn, Cuthbertson, Duhl and Grello with offices at New Haven, Hartford and Providence.

Mr. De Barbieri served as counsel to the Columbus Day Committee, Inc. of New Haven.  He is also a member and past President of the Amity Club of New Haven, The Graduates Club, The National Italian American Foundation, and active in national and political affairs.  In 2004 he was invested as a Cavaliere of the House of Savoy.  Mr. De Barbieri taught Real Estate Law at Southern Connecticut State University.

He is a member of the Connecticut, New Haven and American Bar Associations and the College of Commercial Arbitrators and is admitted to practice law in all courts of the State of Connecticut, the United States Supreme Court and in the Federal District Courts for Connecticut.  He holds a Bachelor Degree in History and Political Science from Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland, and received his Juris Doctor Degree from Cleveland‑Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University.

 

In the past, Mr. De Barbieri has served on the Governor’s Housing Advisory panel and was a voluntary Housing Judge in the State Small Claims Court. He has been a per diem Commissioner at Large for the Connecticut Workers Compensation Commission, and a Commercial and International Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Prior to coming to New Haven, Mr. De Barbieri served as a Vista Lawyer in Waterbury, Connecticut, and later in New Haven helped start a service agency to assist ex‑offenders.  He also owned and operated Action Replace-A-Car, Inc. and Chevron Ties International, Inc.

Mr. De Barbieri was born in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in St. James, Long Island.  He is married to Patricia M. Walczak De Barbieri, presently a Professor Emeritus at Southern Connecticut State University.  Mr. and Mrs. De Barbieri have two children, Aimee and Edward, and currently reside in Madison, Connecticut.
